Brenda Morrow Kissam (12/29/1960 ~ 03/10/2025)


Mrs. Brenda Morrow Kissam, age 64 of Fairmont NC, passed away on March 10, 2025, at her home.  She was born on

December 29, 1960, in Fort Campbell, KY.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 23 from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Geraldine Morrow; and a brother, Robert Wayne Morrow.

She is survived by her husband, John Wyman Kissam; two daughters, Meagan Kissam and Holly Smith (Ricky); a

stepdaughter, Casey Kissam Bell (Nathan); a son, Shane Kissam; and two brothers, Mike Morrow and Steve Morrow.

She was a loving grandmother to Braylen, Cullen, Dawson, Rivers, Lakes and Banks. She enjoyed spending time with all of them.

She enjoyed spending hours in the sun, planting flowers and watching them grow, and reading as a pastime. She had a special love for animals, both big and small, and there was always room for one more at her home.

She was a friend to many and never met a stranger. She could talk to anyone about anything.

She leaves to cherish her memories with numerous family and friends who will miss her dearly. Her infectious laugh and beautiful smile will not be forgotten.


Roscoe Byrd, Jr. (10/30/1950 ~ 03/13/2025)


Mr. Roscoe Byrd, Jr. died March 13, 2025 at his home in Fairmont NC after an illness.

A graveside funeral service will be Monday, March 17, 2025 at 3:00 at Floyds Cemetery of Fairmont.  The family will receive friends following the funeral service.

Mr. Byrd was born in Florence SC, the son of the late Roscoe and Hazel West Byrd.  He worked as a buyer for the American Tobacco Company and was a member of First Baptist Church of Fairmont.

He is survived by his sister, Nancy S. Byrd; and a special friend, Vickie Grainger Pittman.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Katie Lynn Byrd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Fairmont.



Danny Raymond Ellis (11/28/1943 ~ 03/12/2025)


Danny Raymond Ellis left to be with Jesus on Sunday, March 9th, 2025.


A funeral service for Mr. Ellis will be at 4pm on Wednesday, March 12th, 2025 at Kemper Baptist Church, with a visitation starting at 3pm. Burial will follow at the Church cemetery.


Danny was born on November 28th, 1943 in Mullins, SC. He was a member of Kemper Baptist Church for over 50 years. He has served as a deacon, a Sunday School teacher, a member of the choir, and a member of a strong softball team. Danny loved his church family and was a model of Christian living. He served his family, his community and our Lord and Savior.


Danny loved the great outdoors. Often seen in the river in a one man boat or sitting in a field watching wildlife, Danny was happiest out in the open.

Danny retired from DuPont in Florence, SC and has spent his retirement years enjoying his family, coaching softball, fishing and his faith.

Danny is survived by his wife of 61 years Edna Earle Perritt Ellis, daughters Kelly Hayes (Terry), Toni Evans (Jim), Roxanne Hollingsworth (Stewart). Seven grandchildren Richard Cooke (Taylor), Trey Hayes (Whitney), Samantha Hollingsworth, Avonlea Cooke Barnhill (Colton), Staci Hollingsworth Brooks (Garrett), Allison Evans and Aiden Evans (Anna). Eleven great grandchildren Hudson Hayes, Easton Barnhill, Molly Hayes, Brayden Cooke, Hadley Hayes, Annelise Barnhill, Nora Brooks, Peyton Hayes, Garrett Evans, Lacy Cooke and Lena Brooks. Also, survived by his aunt, Sarah Graham Watts, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.


Danny was preceded in death by his parents Georgia Graham Ellis and W.J. Ellis, siblings Barbara Ann Ellis Newell, Kelly Ellis, and Johnny Ellis, and his granddaughter Lindsay Erin Hayes.

Elizabeth Evans Lupo (04/27/1932 ~ 03/02/2025)


Elizabeth Evans Lupo, age 92, went to be with the Lord, Sunday March 2, 2025.


A funeral service will be Wednesday, March 5 at 3:00 p.m. at Piney Grove Baptist Church, with burial to follow at the church cemetery. The family will receive friends at
the church at 2:00, one hour prior to the funeral service.


She was born in Robeson County on April 27, 1932, to the late Montgomery and Mary Ivey Evans. She was affectionately known as “granny” to all those that new her. She worked for many years in the textile industry and food service until May 2024.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Lupo; her parents; three brothers, Paul Evans, Hal Evans, Montgomery Evans, Jr.; six sisters, Gladys Ford, Louise Sealey, Edna “Teenie” Earl Loper, Grace Rogers, Lyzett Strickland (Claude) and Bobby Jean Evans.

She is survived by special nephew, Jimmy (Elaine) Evans; great niece, Julie (Richard) Floyd; great-great nephews, Mason and Lance Floyd. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews; and friend Vera Ellen Floyd.

The family would like to say a special thank you to those that helped during her illness.

Linda Cook Davis (07/22/1960 ~ 02/12/2025)


Linda Cook Davis passed away peacefully at her home on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

She was born in Ft. Hood, Texas while her father was stationed there. Being a military family, they moved often before making

their home in Lexington, SC. One of her favorite places to visit was the beach!

She was pre-deceased by her husband of 19 years, Melvin Douglas Davis, Lexington in September of 2024. Her parents,

Jack & Betty Cook of Lexington; brother Jack Foster Cook, Jr, sister Glenda Cook Walker Bundrick and great nephew, Jackson

Lewis Young.

She is survived by her sister Brenda (Bert) Cook Young; Sharon (Frank) Cook Medley; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and

great nephews.

Linda was a caring person who often enjoyed taking care of others as a hospice volunteer.

Many thanks to Valery Samuel & her staff who were caretakers that took excellent care of first Melvin and then Linda. Also thanks to Heart of Hospice for their excellent care.



David Eugene Mahaffey (09/27/1962 ~ 02/13/2025)​


David Eugene Mahaffey of Lake View, SC passed away on February 13, 2025 at age 62.

He was the son of the late Larry Eugene Mahaffey and Jo Carole Church Mahaffey Dickerson of Lake View. He was a loving,

protective son/brother/husband/father and Papa.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 44 years, Sheila Chambers Mahaffey; two loving children, Amanda Mae Mahaffey of Gastonia, NC

and John David Robert Mahaffey (Kishia) of Blountville, TN; four adoring grandchildren, Mackenzie Elaine Mahaffey Moore of

Florence, SC, Matthew David Mahaffey Moore of Lake View, Harper Rayne Mahaffey and Lacie Layne Mahaffey of Blountville, TN.

David also leaves behind one sister Sharon Yvonne Mahaffey of Vero Beach, FL, one brother, Robert Sean Mahaffey (Elizabeth) of

Charlotte, NC, and one half-sister, Stacy Mahaffey of Asheville, NC. He also leaves behind many nieces, a nephew, and a loving Aunt.

He is preceded in death by his younger sister Heather Mahaffey, by his maternal grandparents, Eliza Marie Gulledge Church Wiggins and John Harvey Church, and by his paternal grandparents, Helen Douglas Mahaffey and Eugene Wellington Mahaffey.

David was a highly skilled industrial maintenance mechanic with S&W Manufacturing in Florence SC for 19 yrs. In his early years David coached the local Recreation Dixie Youth Baseball and Recreation Football. He was a huge Lake View Gators fan and rooted for his son in many Gator games. In later years David's greatest joy was being a "Papa.” He adored his grandchildren. He loved spending time with them and seeing them grow. He was proud to see the two oldest grands finish high school and mature into adults; the oldest granddaughter recently finishing college becoming a registered nurse. He was the world's greatest "Papa.”

 Arrangements for the Celebration of Life will be announced at a later time.

Norma Dale Kissam (04/19/1937 ~ 02/14/2025)


Mrs. Norma Dale Kissam “Dolly”, age 87, of Fairmont passed away on February 14, 2025, at her home, surrounded by her  family.  She

was born April 19, 1937, in Robeson County.

A funeral service will be Sunday, February 17th at 3:00 p.m. at Oakdale Baptist Church of Fairmont with burial to follow at
Floyd’s

Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church at 2:00, prior to the funeral service.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Fleming and Nora Bass; husband, Hubert Kissam: and a grandson, John 
Ross Kissam.

She is survived by sons, Hugh Kissam (Tracy) and John Wyman Kissam (Brenda); two daughters, Gina Jaquess and Holly Miller (Chris). She was the grandmother to Ashley, Dustin, Jade, Ryan, Casey, Shane, Meagan, Anna, Cutter, Riley, Dalys and Aleigh; and the great grandmother to Rivers, Lakes, Banks, Dawson, Reese, Cayden, Chelsey, Briar, Aubrey and Mason; and a great great grandmother to Riley Rose. She also leaves behind two special friends, Mrs. Dorothy Wheeler and Mrs. Marlene Toward.

Mrs. Kissam was a faithful member of Oakdale Baptist Church, where she served as a nursery worker for over 50 years.  She loved to sing in the church choir and shared her talents with the community when needed to sing for weddings and funerals.

Mrs.  Kissam was a loving mother and sister to Lamery, Alfreida, Elease, Laura Lee and Ovelia. She leaves to cherish her memories with numerous nieces, nephews and a host of friends.



Faye Jones Perritt (04/02/1950 ~ 01/31/2025)


​Mrs. Faye Jones Perritt, of Lake View, SC went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus on Friday, January 31, 2025.

She was born in Mullins, SC on April 2, 1950, the daughter of the late Lonnie Jones and Mildred Elvington Jones.

Faye worked in her early years as a licensed Cosmetologist and later as a devoted homemaker and mother to her family, which she loved very much.

She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of 44 years (Ray), her son (Andy), along with her church family and many lifelong friends.

Her faith in Jesus sustained her all the days of her life and her wish would be that you too would come to know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior.  “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”  John 3:16. “Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life; he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live. And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believeth thou this?” John 11:25-26

A graveside service will be held Monday, February 3rd at 3:00 p.m. at Kemper Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Reverend Haywood Proctor officiating. The family will greet friends following the service in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that a donation in the name of Faye J. Perritt be made to Kemper Baptist Church, 736 Kemper Church Road, Lake View, SC 29563.  The family requests visitations be limited to the funeral service as we deal with our grief.



Lucinda "Cindy" Alford (06/25/1963 ~ 01/11/2025)


Lucinda “Cindy” Alford, age 61, unexpectedly passed away at the MUSC Health Medical Center on Saturday, January 11, 2025. Born on June 25, 1963, in Marion County, SC, she was the youngest daughter of the late H.B. Alford and Georgia Alford Johnson. In addition to her parents,

Cindy was the very picture of a loving mother. Her willingness to help and go the extra mile for her family and friends was unwavering. She loved her crocheting, enjoyed hunting, and above all, her love for her boys was without end. While she was not fond of being in pictures, our memories of her will be cherished forever. She was a good and kind friend to the many who knew her.

Cindy is survived by her sons, Kelly (Sophia) Brewer and Sam Brewer; her granddaughter Audrey Weber; her brother George (Anna) Alford; nieces and nephews Michael (Judy) Cook, Cody (Tina) Cook, Kayla Cook, Coleman Cook, Alex Alford, Candace Alford; Aunt Francine Byrd; many loved cousins and other family members.

Cindy was predeceased by her sister, Sheila Alford Cook, and maternal aunt, Nellie Kate Adkins.

Visitation will be held at Cooke Funeral Home in Lake View, SC, on Thursday, January 16, 2025, from 5 to 7 p.m. A private graveside service will be held at a later time.




Bettie Gale Floyd Hayes (01/31/1936 ~ 12/09/2024)

Bettie Gale Floyd Hayes, age 88, of 1000 Dogwood Drive, Fairmont, NC, died at her home on December 9, 2024.  Born on

January 31, 1936, in Barnesville, Robeson County, NC, she was the youngest daughter of the late Aubrey Floyd and Dessie

Johnson Floyd.  In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 64 years William Allen Hayes; her sister,

Billie Dove Floyd Lupo; brother-in-law, Fulton Reeves Lupo; and nephew Kenneth Byron Lupo.

Bettie Gale was one of 13 graduates from Barnesville High School in 1954.  She played forward on the girls’ basketball team and

participated in the Beta Club and other extracurricular organizations, as she said, “we all did”.  She pursued higher education at

Louisburg Junior College in Louisburg, NC, taking time off to get married and move to Fairmont.  She completed her Bachelors in

Elementary Education at Flora McDonald College in Red Springs, NC in 1958.  After teaching for several years, Bettie Gale

completed her education at East Carolina University in 1975, receiving a Masters in Reading. 

Bettie Gale began her teaching career at Orrum Elementary School in Orrum, NC where she taught 1st grade.  After a few years, she moved to Fairmont City Schools where she taught 2nd and 4th grades, as well as becoming a Reading Specialist after completion of her master’s degree.  She taught school for 35 years, retiring in 1996.

In her spare time, Bettie Gale read avidly and enjoyed traveling.  Most trips were summer vacations trips with family.  However, a particularly memorable trip was a summer long trip with her husband, William (Bill) Hayes, exploring Alaska and touring Canada. 

Survivors include her sister, Rachel Floyd Adams of Winter Haven, FL; two sons, William Allen Hayes, Jr. and Bradley Floyd Hayes, both of Fairmont; a daughter, Sandra Gale Hayes, also of Fairmont; and a grandson and granddaughter, David Dalton Lennon of Elkton, VA and Caroline Gale Lennon of Carlsbad, CA.  Bettie Gale’s nephews and nieces include Charles Eric Lupo (Donna) of Raleigh, NC; Rebecca Gayle Lupo of Cary, NC; Billie Melessa Henry (Jim) of Pittsboro, NC; Carrie Jacquelyn Lupo of Lexington, VA; Fulton Keith Lupo (Amy) of Menlo Park, CA; and various other grand-nephews and nieces. 

Memorials may be made in Bettie Gale Hayes’ name to Trinity United Methodist Church, 307 Trinity Street, Fairmont, NC 28340 or to a charity on one’s choice. 

A graveside service will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at Bear Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery, Lake View, SC.

Mary M. Ford (06/13/1939 ~ 11/17/2024)


Mary M. Ford passed away peacefully on Sunday, November 17, 2024, and is now in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

A graveside service will be Thursday, November 21, 2024 at 11am at Bear Swamp Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mary was a devoted wife to Jimmy Neil Ford for over 53 years before he passed away in November, 2022.

She is survived by 3 children - James Ronald McDonald, Ocheyedan, IA, Kenneth McDonald, Mullins, SC, Teresa Shepard, Chesapeake, VA.

She was preceded in death by her son Norris Wayne McDonald.

Mary enjoyed caring for others and will be remembered by her loving nature.



William Roshell “Joe” Bailey (12/06/1944 ~ 12/02/2024)


Mr. Joe Bailey (79) died Monday, December 2, 2024, at McLeod Medical Center of Dillon, after an illness.

A graveside funeral service will be Thursday, December 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Hayestown Cemetery of Lake View.  The family will receive friends at the cemetery immediately following the funeral service.

Mr. Bailey was born in Robeson County, the son of the late Rufus Lester and Rometer Miller Bailey.  He worked as a boilermaker for many years before retiring, as well as performing welding and repair jobs for many farmers in the community.

He is survived by his sons, Joseph “Joey” Bailey (Robin) of Ding Dong, TX, Shane Bailey (Alice) of San Jose, CA and Crystal Swearingen (Brent) of Lenoir City, TN; 3 sisters, Marie Grainger, Betty Arnette and Mattie Bailey; Grandkids, Brandi, Adam, Shelby, Jordan, Austin, Trenton, and Skylar; 5 great grandkids and a host of nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Tom Bailey.



Bobbie Holt Cook (06/03/1927 ~ 11/24/2024)


Bobbie Holt Cook, born on June 3, 1927 in Nichols, South Carolina, passed away on November 24, 2024. She was an active

member  of the Lake View community since 1948.


Bobbie was preceded in death by her father, Harvey L. Holt; mother, Mary Anna McCallum Holt; sister, Addie Catherine Holt Shine;

and brothers, John Holt and Hoyt Holt. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert Alton Cook; her son, Robert Alton

Cook Jr.; and her grandson, Bret Cook.

She is survived by her daughter, Joy Cook Duncan; her son, Harvey Brentley Cook (Zandra); grandchildren, Brandon Cook (Deanna);

Kristin Jacobs (Curtis); Melanie McCluskey (BJ); and five great-grandchildren.

Bobbie graduated from Coker College with a degree in education. During her career she taught at South Robeson Elementary, Avalon Academy, and Lake View Elementary.

She was very active in her community. She loved her church, First Baptist Church in Lake View, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years. She enjoyed baking cakes and making candy and other sweets to share with friends, neighbors, and shut-ins. She had a green thumb, and gardening and sharing produce with others was another hobby she loved.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to Patriot Hospice or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church in Lake View, South Carolina on Friday, November 29.  Visitation will be in the sanctuary at 1:00, and services will follow at 2:00.  The burial will be in Lake View Cemetery.



William R. Harris (12/06/1937 ~ 11/16/2024)


It is with sadness of missing a loved one, but also with the peacefulness of knowing one day we will be together again, the family of William R. (Bill) Harris announce his passing on November 16, 2024. After a brief illness, surrounded by family, our dad went home to be with the Lord.


Born in Red Bay, AL, Bill was the son of Johnny and Ethel Harris. Dad began a career in textile manufacturing. He had an ability to design and implement company policies and practices that made his name known throughout the industry. After retirement, he began a second career with Walmart at the age of 62. He worked 20 years at Walmart, spending most of that time at Walmart in Marion, SC, until June 2020.


Dad was a member of First Baptist Church in Lake View, SC, for many years. He attended Auburn University on a scholarship. He was an avid fan of the Auburn Tigers (War Eagle!) and enjoyed many outdoor activities such as fishing, tennis, golf, working in his yard, and traveling. He will be remembered by many for his hard work ethic and his generosity.


Dad is survived by his children: Debra Liggin (Bud), Sherry Harris, and Robin Harris (Terrie), 5 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, two brothers: Jerry Harris (Janet) of Tupelo, MS, and Wayne Harris (Jacqueline) of Red Bay, AL, and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father and mother, a brother (Jimmy Harris) and a sister (Sue Atchley).


A private “Celebration of Life” service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in his memory be made to the American Diabetes Association online (or by mail) at www.diabetes.org, or to your preferred charity or church.



Effie Elliott (10/10/1950 ~ 10/22/2024)


Mrs. Effie Elliott died Tuesday, October 22, 2024, at McLeod Regional Medical Center of Florence, after an illness.

A funeral service will be Friday, October 25 at 11:00 a.m. at Kemper Baptist Church of Lake View.  Burial will follow at Lake View Perpetual Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday at 10:00 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service.

Mrs. Elliott was born in Mullins, the daughter of the late Lacy and Inez Rogers Hutchinson.

She is survived by her partner, Jerry Hayes; nieces, Penny Piner (Buddy) and Bobbi Mitchell (Michael); nephew, John Garris; great nieces and nephews, Mikaela Mitchell, Nate Mitchell, Alex Mitchell, Trent Garris, and Sydney Garris.

She was preceded in death by Roger and Eugene Hutchinson, and Betty Garris.



Christopher V. Miller (07/11/1957 ~ 10/06/2024)




Mr. Christopher Miller, 67, died Sunday, October 6, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House of Florence, after an illness.

The family will receive friends Thursday, October 10, 2024 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View.

Mr. Miller was born in Dillon SC, the son of the late William and Patsy Lupo Miller. He was a Heavy Equipment Operator for Palmetto Paving before his retirement.

He is survived by his wife, Helen C. Miller; son, David Cook; daughter, Kristy Sanderson (Jay), Jeannie Britt (Donald), Susan Cook, and Karen Lee (Richard); brother, Dennis Miller; sister, Jane Miller, grandchildren, Jaylyn Sanderson, Stonie Sanderson, Marshall Lee, Jr., Noah Lee, Asher Lee, Reid Lee, Daniel Britt, Ryleigh Pender, Chelsey Kissam, Clinton Britt and Ricks Britt; many nieces, nephews and special friends.



Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Marshall Miller.






Kathryn Perritt Huggins




Mrs. Kathryn Perritt Huggins, 75, of Lake View, SC passed away Wednesday, October 2, 2024 at McLeod Hospice House of Florence after an illness.

Mrs. Huggins was born September 22, 1949. She was a 1968 graduate of Lake View High School. She later attended Francis Marion University. She was employed by the Lake View School System as a teacher for 29 years. She was also a member of First Baptist Church of Lake View. 

Mrs. Huggins is survived by her husband of 55 years, Charles; daughters, Marsha Rogers (Bubba) and Summer Floyd (Blake); grandchildren, Ashley Daniels (Will), Dylan Rogers (Genesis), Grace Floyd (Jordan), and Lawson Floyd.  Her greatest joy was her family. She enjoyed the tranquility of her home surrounded by her loved ones.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bobby and Ann Flowers Perritt; her brother, Stan Perritt; and a special grandmother, Blondell (Blondie) Flowers.

The family will receive friends Saturday, October 5th, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 pm at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View. The family will have a private memorial service at a later date.

Larry Mitchell King (10/11/1956 ~ 09/26/2024)





Mr. Larry King (67) died Thursday, September 26, 2024, at Carlyle Senior Care of Bishopville after an illness.

A graveside service will be Sunday, September 29 at 2:00 p.m. at Lake View Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Saturday, Sept 28 from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View.  Friends and family are also welcome at the home of Angie Rogers, 2114 Rabbit Island Road, Nichols SC 29581.

Mr. King was born in Mullins, the son of the late Alex King and Ernestine K. Powell.  In his early life, he enjoyed working on cars as a mechanic. Larry was also a passionate NASCAR fan and enjoyed attending races each year with his family and friends.  His infectious smile and positive outlook on life made him an inspiration to many.  He loved his family dearly and was eager to help in any way possible. He was a huge Clemson fan and proudly wore his orange.

He is survived by a son, Robert King; sisters, Jean Herring (Johnnie), Becky McDonald (Randy), Allie Welch (Alan), Phyllis Spivey (Kenny), Angie Rogers (George), Gwen Miller (Chuck) and Susan Grant (Kirby); brothers, Steve King (Tammy), Jamie King (Susan) and Dan King.

Minnie Jordan “Laronda” Nobles, 67, of Winston-Salem passed away on September 15th, 2024, at the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson, North Carolina after an illness.

Laronda was born February 6th, 1957, in Mullins to the late Carl William Jordan, Sr. and the late Margie Turner Jordan. She was known for her outgoing personality and charm. In her later years, Laronda was extremely fond of crafts; being involved in several craft groups on the internet. She spent much of her time sitting outside of her home in Winston-Salem enjoying nature and chatting with neighbors.

In addition to Laronda’s parents, she is predeceased by her brother, Bill Jordan; her Brother-in-laws, Alvin Nobles and Aubry W. Hardwick; and her husband, Glenn Nobles.

Surviving Laronda are her sons: Dan (Cissy) Cook of Lake View; Tracy Cook of Dillon; Coy “CG” Nobles of Troutman, NC; her daughter: Kasey Nobles of Dillon; her sister: Lanelle (Randy) Moore of Latta; her Sister-in-law: Ethel Nobles; several nieces and nephews; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; and other adoptive sons and daughters that called her “Ma” over the years.

Visitation will occur on September 21st, 2024, at Cooke Funeral Home in Lake View from 1PM until 3PM.  A funeral service will occur at The First Baptist Church of Lake View on September 21st, 2024, at 4PM. Burial will be a private family affair at a later date.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice home for their love and care. The family also invites you to do a craft with a young or elderly person in Laronda’s honor.

Mrs. Nellie M. Flowers died Saturday, August 24, 2024, at Pruitt Health Dillon after an illness.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 27 at 11:00 a.m. at Kemper Baptist Church of Lake View. The family will receive friends


Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View.

Mrs. Flowers was born in Marion County, the daughter of the late Roshell and Lizzie Lane Miller of Lake View. She was a lifelong member of Kemper Baptist Church and the owner of Lake View Seafood for many years.

Mrs. Flowers is survived by her daughter, Michelle Britt (Tony); granddaughter, Madelyn (Maddy) Britt, who she always referred to as her Number 1; and special nieces, Cheryl Turner and Darlene Rouse.

Mrs.  Flowers was preceded in death by her husband, Delane Flowers; 7 brothers and 3 sisters.

Ann Page Huggins, 87 September 5, 1936 – August 24, 2024. We announce the peaceful passing of Ann Page Huggins on August 24, 2024. Born on


September 5, 1936, in Lake View, South Carolina, Ann enriched the lives of all who knew her with her warmth, generosity, and boundless love.

In 1954, Ann married Phil Huggins, embarking on a beautiful journey that lasted 66 years. Together, they owned and operated The Trading Post in


Lake View until their retirement in 2000, a beloved community hub where friendships flourished, and stories were shared.

Ann's greatest joy was her family. She was a devoted wife, a loving mother to her children Joni Huggins-Spivey and Russ Huggins, and a proud grandmother to Jason (Raegan) Spivey, Heather (Todd) Huggins, Kyle (William) Robinson-Spivey, and Brandon Huggins. Her love and guidance extended to her great-grandchildren, Annsley Huggins, Ayden Huggins, Eden Spivey, Tatum Spivey, and Roland Spivey, who were blessed to feel her creative spirit. Ann had a special affinity for flowers. Her home and garden were filled with vibrant blooms, each one carefully tended to with love and care. She had a unique talent for creating beautiful arrangements, finding joy in the delicate petals and rich colors that reflected her own bright personality. The flowers she cultivated and shared with friends were a testament to her generosity and her deep appreciation for nature’s beauty.

A lifetime member of Lake View United Methodist Church, Ann was deeply committed to her faith and community. Her involvement in the church was a cornerstone of her life, providing her with a sense of purpose.

Ann was preceded in death by her parents, George Winston Page, Sr., and Helen Page, and her siblings, Peggy Page Blankenship and George (GW) Winston Page, Jr. Her memory will forever be cherished by those she leaves behind.

A funeral service will be held at Lake View Perpetual Care Cemetery on Monday, August 26, 2024, at 2:00pm, where Ann will be laid to rest. Visitation with the family will immediately follow the graveside service at the cemetery, where friends and loved ones can gather to share their memories and offer their condolences.

 At the age of 87, Ann's earthly journey has come to an end. She is now reunited with her beloved Phil, sharing eternal peace. Her legacy of love and kindness will continue to live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate to know her.​





​Linda Clark Rogers (02/19/1955 ~ 08/06/2024)





Mrs. Linda Clark Rogers, 69, passed away August 6, 2024, at McLeod Hospital in Florence S.C., during her battle with cancer.

Her funeral will be 2 p.m. Sunday, August 11, 2024, at Piney Grove Baptist Church in Lake View, S.C. Burial will follow at the church cemetery. The Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 Saturday, August 10, 2024, at Cooke Funeral Home of Lake View, SC.

Mrs. Rogers was born in Dillon County, the daughter of the late Lee Arthur and Edna Cox Clark. A longtime member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she was active in WMU and former clerk of church. She was a long serving member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her clubs included The Dillon Garden Club and Lake View Woman’s Club. One of her most proud moments was fulfilling a lifelong dream to get a Bachelor’s of Arts from Coker College in 2004. She had several jobs over the years including teaching at Dillon School District 3, but her most beloved job was being a stay-at-home mom. Some of her most loved time was in her beautiful garden, cheering for the Tigers on Saturdays, spoiling her two grandsons, and tackling her next craft project. She was a loved member of the Lake View Community and Dillon County.

Mrs. Rogers was proceeded by her husband, Cecil Moody Rogers and brother, Thomas Lee Clark. She is survived by a son, Cecil Lance Rogers (Jennifer) of Mullins, S.C.; two daughters, Lindsey Amanda Rogers of Myrtle Beach, SC, and Leigh Anna Strickland of Myrtle Beach, SC; and two grandsons, Brantley Thomas Rogers and Connor Maddox Strickland; a sister Peggy Hasty (Trey) of Lake View, SC, and brother Glenn Clark of Lake View, SC; Brother-in-Law John C. Rogers (Bonnie) of North Myrtle Beach, SC. And multiple Nieces and Nephews.

​Allen Ray Daniels (03/18/1964 ~ 07/28/2024)​





Allen Ray Daniels, 60, passed from his earthly home on Sunday, July 28, 2024, at McLeod Hospice House of the Pee Dee.  Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 1, 2024, at 3:00 P.M. at Lake View Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Wayne Gibson officiating. Interment to follow in Cooke Family Cemetery near Lake View.  Family will receive friends from 2:00 P.M. to 2:45 P.M. prior to the service in the sanctuary. Arrangements are entrusted to Cooke Funeral Home in Lake View.

Mr. Daniels was born in Dillon, SC, March 18, 1964, the son of the late Fred A. Daniels and Mary Alice Price McCrea.  Allen was raised in Dillon and on March 4, 1982, married Cynthia S. Page.  He was a man of several talents, but he really enjoyed working on computers.  Mr. Daniels was a member of Lake View Pentecostal Holiness Church.  

Allen is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cynthia S. Page Daniels of the home; sons, Roger Allen Daniels (Danielle) of the home and Christopher Horace Daniels (Kelli) of Dillon; and grandson, Tony Allen Daniels of the home.  He was predeceased by his parents; sister, Georgia Anne Turner; and grandchild, Torin Huntleigh Smallwood-Daniels.

Wanda Carol Mercer (10/24/1950 ~ 09/19/2024)


Wanda Carol Mercer, known as “Mercer”, was born and raised in Lake View, SC where she was an outstanding high school athlete and cheerleader.  She attended the University of SC Florence and graduated from Francis Marion College in 1973. Mercer lettered in Tennis, the only women’s sport at the time, was the statistician for the Men’s Basketball Team and a member of the campus newspaper staff and student government association.

A graveside service will be Friday, October 25, 2024, at 2:00 pm at Lake View Cemetery. 

Mercer dedicated 33 years to the students of Darlington High Schools where she taught Social Studies and coached the Girls Tennis Team.  She cared deeply for her students who appreciated her “up front” teaching and disciplinary style.  You always knew where you stood with Mercer whether teaching, coaching or umpiring.  Her compassion extended to the community organizing a very successful, now 46-year, student food drive for shut-ins each Christmas, serving thousands over the years.  Always the teacher, she said that the students benefited as much as the recipients from the program.

While working for the City of Florence Recreation Department in the summers Mercer helped organize the very successful Girls Softball program and honed her umpiring skills, rising to the top of that profession as well.  Her 33-year umpiring career began as chief umpire for Friendship Park in Florence advancing to 12 National Youth Tournament assignments including a 1991 tour to Russia and Sweden to introduce youth softball to those countries.  She was also selected to umpire 16 men’s, women’s, and co-ed National tournaments including the 1991 and 1998 Women’s World Series.  For her accomplishments, Mercer was the first umpire ever elected to the USSSA Softball Hall of Fame.

 Mercer was an avid Clemson fan and a perfectionist in all that she tackled, playing tournament golf, just for fun.  Retiring to Lake Marion in 2010, she was always surrounded by a variety of friends and acquaintances.  Mercer was just as comfortable mentoring young people as she was at the local watering hole or card table.  If dynamite comes in small packages, Mercer was TNT.  She was funny and loved to laugh.  Beneath that gruff exterior was the softest heart and touch imaginable.  Whether a stray dog or stray kid, no one was marginalized when Merc was around.  Fiercely loyal, if you were her friend, you were her friend for life.

Mercer was predeceased by her parents Ed Mercer and Alice Leggett Mercer Worsham and half-brother Steven Worsham.  She is survived by her sisters, Paula Mercer Entwistle and Debra Mercer and nephew Robbie Riley.  In lieu of flowers, Mercer would prefer donations to TLC (The Lord’s Table) of Darlington, the Clarendon County Humane Society or your favorite charity.
